alarming

it’s alarming that people walk around thinking that what they know is the best thing in the world. They are right and will always be right, regardless of the fact that there are billions of people with a differnt world view and way of doing things.

loom

it creeps in
closer
the giant shadow of our
years
a time of light and
star-gazed love
now swallowed by the
leering beast of
betrayal.

rating

you watch me with your
primal glare.
eyes running up and down
hovering with ease
your tongue pokes out like
a snake behind bushes
watching its prey as
you wink.

tingles and shivers penetrate
the skin as you curl your lips
into crescent moon shape.
your jaw remains harsh but your
teeth flash my body.
i replicate the lip movement in the hope
of shaking things off.
but you watch me with you gaze so heavy
and i sink into your eyes
drowning.

She opened up the link, cautiously. A new tab was creating showing two faces. A close-up of a young blonde girl was placed on the right, a brunette besides her. She recognised the two faces immediately, but could quite place it. Moments past before she realised who they were, fellow classmates from her Philosophy course. The site was now asking her to pick one, rating them out of ten. She laughed, thinking of the stupidity of the site, but continued to do so anyways. A few rounds past, all containing students from her school. After about ten minutes, she stopped. On the left of her screen was a young ginger girl who she did not recognise at all, but the right is what frightened her. The image showed a pale, insipid looking girl, with hair too long for the photo. It was a mess of brown locks, waving in odd places, flicking on the ends. There was barely a smile, but the eyes had a certain spark to them. It appeared that she was gazing through the camera, watching every move. The girl stopped her clicking, and stared at the familiar face, before turning her head to the left to eye the photograph on her desk. The very same photo as the one on her screen – the photo of her.

plague

Plague can be numerous things. Death from disease, death from love, death from technology. Anything really. The plague happens to everyone, not just the people from way back when, with their yellow skin and their cold dead eyes.

returned

i returned the book to the man at the desk and i cried about it, i missed it already. oh how i longed to return to that wonderful book, with its twists and turns and the storylines of romanticised love and heroic deeds, but alas the man snatched it from me without a second glance

grasped

To have understood. To have taken. To have held.

To have known, the thought or the feel of something or some idea.

That moment when it just clicks. An epiphany. A realization. When the absolute truth is painfully obvious.

Something is wrong, it is right, it is neither. Nothing but ambivalence. But you know this know. You have grasped it.

think

one day, you will wish upon a star.

one day, you will wish upon that star that you could let go, of everything.

you will want to stop thinking.

because to you, thinking is synonymous to remembering.

and that hurts too much.

murder

The moment when rational is lost, when passions over turn a person and they lash out. A cold unfeeling person being delivered a thrill, something to keep them going. A puzzle to solve for those who are intelligent and love the chase the deception and the intrigue. Look into the mind of anyone and they all have the capacity to commit murder just it’s the twisted few who choose it.

swell

She had a swell time at the ball. Her dress sparkled in the light and as she clasped her purse to her front, her cheeks all aglow, she had never felt so full of high spirits as she did in the moment.

sound

is incredible. it’s one of my favorite things to sense, especially if it’s natural or organic or if somebody really means it when they make it. A world without sound would be horribly bleak.

choose

Decisions are difficult things. Sometimes they won’t impact your life very much but sometimes they can impact your life a lot. They can change you for better or for worse and be as simple as choosing what top to wear or as complex as choosing what career you want to peruse for the rest of your life. You can make the right choice, or the wrong choice. Whichever you choose reflects you as a person. The right choice is usually a good thing and the wrong choice is usually a bad thing. But sometimes what you choose will affect you for the rest of your life.

soil

He grabbed a handful of it and hurled it across the bus at the suspicious looking trench-coat wearing iguana. “I have covered you in soil,” he whispered across the aisle at that trench-coat wearing iguana. Why had he done it? Because he had it? Because he had it to throw?

soon

“soon.”
“when?”
“Soon. i promise.”
He brooded over her words. What if it was too late by then? he couldn’t wait to find out. he ran from the ballroom in a sudden haste he had never seen in himself before.

employees

I am an employee, the only one in my family. Decayed or decaying aristocrats look at me askance from their threadbare velvet armchairs as I leave with my briefcase in the morning.

themselves

Too many people fill the hall,
Twining round eachother like fronds of seaweed.
Caught in eachother,
Wrapped up in themselves.

guard

The fences. There are so many, covering the whole of this dirty, disgusting field. The sometimes move in the bitter wind but if you’re lucky you might see them glow. I saw them, just once. I’ve tried so many times since, my friends have told me they saw it, but I never believe a thing they say.

upper

Uppers. Caffeine, stimulants, anything that will get your energy up, your mood up, your productivity UP. Up to an upper level; upper level of a building by way of an UP escalator, or elevator. Upper hand in an argument – you’re winning, you have leverage, you can make the other person feel small or lower.

breath

The source of life. It is never thought about, but always needed.
The constant friend we never thank. The moment that is then gone. The thing that levels all, and communicates much.

help

HELP me get this damned application written in a way that aNYONE who reads it will want to fund it. It is very important and I cannot seem to get enough help writing it. It did help this morning when Elisa gave me her perspective on why my applications seem descriptive. Hopefully it will help.

together

Together we lost what we left behind in Chile. Together we teeter along the edge of a green pool, burdening each other.

when we are together my heart skips beats, it’s like running to the woods of safety from society. when we are together i can only think of happiness and the strength of our characters. being apart from you makes me want to climb mountains and scream your name from the peak. i think of you everyday and wait for the moment when we can be together again. when we are together i don’t think of anything but you.
