Genetics is what we are, who we are, how we are what we are! It is the natural invisible pattern that makes us visible. It holds us, molds up and is what we are.

the clouds in the sky looked so real this morning. I couldn’t stop staring at them just to make sure they didn’t disappear before my eyes. It often started this way in the season Orange County called winter. The early hours would be grey, breezy and fresh, as if something could be different today. something would be new. I would always feel a stab of betrayal though, when the morning mist dissipated and the inevitable sun would slowly stream through and burn the calm blanket of moisture away. Turns out it would be just like yesterday, just another day on the calendar sliding passed on the wind into the atmosphere.

I hate choosing because I see it as cutting off opportunities. I’m constantly scared that I’ll make the wrong choice and have to live with the consequences.

Feeling big or small isn’t up to your mass, but in how others treat you.

Size affects whether or not your voice is heard, whether people think of you and sometimes how much they respect you.

So much of it and saying so little, expressing thoughtlessly.

Don’t think, just write. Don’t think, just write. Don’t think, just write. This is a tool I really must use more often. Don’t edit, just write. Right?

Seems like I only use this word in prayer; beseeching, apologizing.

I wasn’t ready, knew I couldn’t get a quick start, knew I couldn’t fill the page. Oddly that kind of accounting and summing of inadequacies takes up a huge amt of time, in the damning and in the recovery.

of monkeys? going over the falls? racing? of ale? to barrel through and get it done!

so close to the edge, literally and figuratively, I practice balance and resilience, hopefully with grace.

Be here now.
Easy to say, hard to do.

Don’t think, just write. Don’t think, just write. Boy I sure wish B of A had not made it so easy to borrow money from my charge cards! Don’t think, just write. Don’t think, just write.

How difficult it seems to teach table manners, please and thank you, look both ways. In order to create a level playing field we all need to have and participate in the same minimal rules of order.

Suddenly at peace, aware of my surroundings and willing to match and combine my energy and willingness to the task at hand. Moving forward I take everything in stride as I realize this present really is a gift.

I’m afraid that my dreams will never come true. That everything I do will have all been for nothing because it just wasn’t enough. I’m afraid that at some point I’ll do something that will mean I will never fit in or that who I am is fundamentally wrong and one day someone will discover that.

I looked over my shoulder trying to desperately to see my follower, my breath was hard and loud and my feet pushed harder and harder as I tried to make some headway.

I see the font’s enlarges since I was here last. Guess other subscribers commented. I’m struck by home many wear glasses; are our eyes worse or diagnostics more persuasive.

I really miss the many drawers that held the library catalog. The hole punched cards kept in order by a little rod that ran through the bottom. I remember being stung by a bee, under my chin, while standing at the catalog looking for something.

I wonder if the reason I can’t make the plugs on the porch work has something to do with the electrical fuses. I don’t know much at all about electricity, but no one else seems to understand what the problem is with the sockets. I guess I’ll at last have to call an electrician.

Well, I certainly have the cake, if not all the trappings for a celebration. Three layers of red velvety goodness!

Sometimes I feel like I’ve been (let myself be) tied to the tracks and I can see the train rounding the corner.

There are days when I feel like part of a team of horses; strapped to myself, slogging around a track, chasing after . . .

How wonderful that at 82 and unable to see much, Mabel keeps a garden. She begins some plants inside and buys others in little 4 inch pots. This year she hired someone to turn the soil over and a friend has helped her these last 2 weeks putting in the vegetables.

Switching political parties seems to be happening with some frequency. Switching genders also happens, now with more frequency than then. Switching brands of cars, groceries, churches is rather common, too; I guess one doesn’t usually refer to churches as a “brand,” but you get the idea.

Twice this week I have heard men yelling, screaming, almost irrational and in a well -heeling upscale neighborhood. A man yelling at his wife to get out of the car – at the top of his voice, over and over and over. She finally did. And tonight, a man roaring at his dog, i hope it was his dog. Growling and making an odd commotion, so out of keeping with these six quiet backyards that adjoin each other.

There’s a wonderful photo of my mother and youngest brother, taken in a photo booth in the early 1950s . . . they are both looking askance, wearing little brimmed caps.

Troubling, how ever you pronounce it.

Hats have got to figure in here somewhere – funny how it conjurs an image of a by gone newspaper driven era
