She was drawn to his aura. Not that she was a mystic or anything, but there was just something about him; his charisma, his personality. Something made her want to be around him all the time. She dared say she was falling in love, but, strangely, she’d actually never even spoken a word to him.

She chased the monster down the empty catwalk. She started to lose it through the curtains. Damn it, where’d it go? After several hours of fruitless searching, she sat down, defeated for the night.

“I think God has cursed me” she bemoaned to her diary. “None of my favorite clothes fit anymore, my friends all hate me, my mom won’t stop drinking, and Jack won’t leave me alone. I wish I could living for a little while and be a canary or something.”

Connor strummed away at his guitar, wallowing in his teen angst. How could Cameron have dumped him like that? Okay, she might have made it clear from the start that she was only dating him to please her dad, but he could’ve sworn there might have been some chemistry between them in the last two weeks.

Another family gathering full of that one question. “Why don’t you have a boyfriend yet?”. Well, what Alana didn’t want a boyfriend? What if she didn’t want anyone? What if she was perfectly happy with being single forever?

Breathing, swimming, dancing. So, many wonderful things happen while living on this globe, earth. Enjoying every moment is my journey.

And so the globe still spins. War, injustice, and starvation continues to happen on this very globe. And yet it still spins. The errors of man never stop the natural order of things, no matter how hard man tries.

I am soaring above the world. Only the wind on my face. Seagulls below. I am higher. I have power. Sunshine beating my wings. Wind pounding in my ears. Nothing to disturb me.

She soared above the clouds, above the buildings, but most importantly above the heads of everyone in her life. She could feel herself soaring even as she sat in the middle of Battery Park on a too-hot summer day.

Her personal trainer kept yammering on about her calorie intake. So what if she wanted a whole cake everyone now and then? She was the one here with three kids under ten, she’d handle stress however she damn well pleased.

She was devastated. How could God let this happen to her daughter? She never hurt anyone. She did what she was told. She was friends with everyone in town. Why then was she six feet under?

Shit, they were out of olive oil. Theresa would have to improvise. But with what? The doorbell rang. Double shit, they were already here. Now she’d have to listen to her mother-in-law go on about what a terrible cook she was.

She missed her mother. Sure, they fought when she was home, and she often was ruder than she meant to be. But her mother always knew when she was upset, and seemed to always know just what to do.
