the deepness of their eyes
was something to fear drowning in.
i think the color of pity
is something dark and viscous.
there are pictures of those oily ducks on Dawn bottles
and i pray for my own soap bubble.

we were thrown back with laughter
and our backs broken
because it was a little ridiculous
how messed up our
country really was.
sighs howl in our hysterical ears.

the second set of prints
were slightly unnerving
and reminded of old oak trees that distort
themselves to squeeze out competitors.
strangling to survive.
then there was the missing doughnut

it’s a bit strange the way
your eyes flicker when you issue
some sort of pardon
like you think of it as inflicting
a retroactive guilt.
i think of how the woman slaps the man on the television
and forget that he beats his wife.

it’s a bit much to assume that you are happening
i think there should be a bit of doubt
in that you may be floating on a cloud of mustard
or drifting like a dandelion seed through each cranium.
perhaps you took hold of me
or i took hold of you

but don’t know what it’s like to
float above all the troddenness
the rotteness of the earth.
this is something we can’t leave the worms to,
it’s a mess that will strangle us all
and bring us back down

there are footsteps made of jelly
and footsteps made of steam
we track them listlessly
and forget about blood.
it pounds in the ears
and it beats in the heart,
it’s found us
it’s found us.
we are no longer losing.

the i stood alone
like the tree that started the wildfire.
i’m afraid of eucalyptus trees.
there were no clouds out and
i’m sure you felt very vulnerable.
i think you’ve looked at your sneakers long enough though,

so there’s a time where there will
never to be.
i’m afraid that this will be the last time
we speak in hypotheticals
because tomorrow the cement will dry
and we will be forced to be
and never allowed to be me.

there’s very little we can do
a silent bill whispers a little too crisp for the beginning of autumn.
i’m afraid it’s your last chance to speak
many mouths open, but most caverns
are full of bat shit.
i’m very sorry.
the very spills out and splatters on my shoes.

it’s a bit too much to ask
of the body to bend against the wind.
or is it?
i heard your spine pop in my ear
and i saw the colors drain
but your pupils dilated
the way they do when you are breathlessly happy.
you can do
what you want.

it’s a bit late for these types of measures
i think we crystallized a little too early, and way too fast.
autocatalyzation or something fucked us up.
i think we could’ve been a part of something bigger,
but i think i’d rather be me,

let’s imagine a plane
running through you
not like slicing through corded metal
or the patriotism of thousands.
let’s just imagine this plane
and let it take us beyond these sharp jagged
out of the ruin
and into empty space.

it was hardly something to be worrying about
really it’s nothing
how are you?
good, how are you?
good, how are you?
sometimes it seems like no one else is trying
and most of the time i am a bad liar

it was strange to say that she graced us
because there was little scowl in the corner of her face
and at one point i saw her throw it all over the side.
she was real for a flash,
and i saw her for her the first time
and it was terrifying and
truth burned in her eyes
and i wondered which stars were out tonight.

there was a distinct jaunt in their walk
kind of half-kicked-myself, kind of half raw confidence.
vitality is so hard to pull from the packaging these days,
i wash my hands for days after.
and the sink just gets stained.
i really dislike the color white.
colourless color. drained out on the floor.

ned he said,
ok, i breathed.
the oak tree was very damp,
there was a maggoty feeling in the air.
it smelled just right,
and i think that was just me
trying to justify this decision.
there wasn’t any I in this tree
just dark safety

you sighed a little to loud
and blew out the light
let’s go inside
and stay away from this mass invasion.
sometimes there are dandelion seeds that travel a little farther
i feel like we’ve hit a salt field,
» Posted By Kairn On 09.10.2014 @ 7:49 pm
wow the accuracy of this statement
makes me question how “weather” the network is
do flourish best
under wet conditions.
i wonder how much of the human brain’s
mass is due to water
and unripe thoughts

there was a hotness in our heels
and my legs always itched after a run
like i was allergic to the sound of
rushing past me
like strangers with lives
i couldn’t even begin to comprehend.
i hope you will make it, my fellow person
but sometimes i stop to take a breath
and it tastes a little like
is that what i wanted?

they brushed the sky
and turned away from the terrifying beauty
of the void
i’m not sure if i’m supposed to envision the world
as a bubble or an expanse ever stretching
i prefer the one some days
today i notice that the sun is farther
and that we are all sadder for it
» Posted By Kairn On 09.04.2014 @ 12:09 pm
they brushed lightly
like sleeves of grain
and it seemed ethereal
but the rich bodies were
and sown deep in the wet soil
their eyes watched for sweet growth
and were disappointed

it rings the bells slowly
it’s hard to tell in the winter
snowy beards and crows feet
bely a suspicious enigma
it’s hard to see something when the fog rolls
parallel to the plane of your eyelashes

the letters were disfigured,
bent with age and weather,
wracked by cold.
they stumbled across the page like very old men
or young children.
i opened the envelope and they were blinded by the light.

they instilled a deep empathy within me.
sometimes i don’t feel like getting it out.
it feels like it’ll take a scalpel
until the feeling stops being mine

it’s 6 am and your palms
you worry that the ink on your ticket will rub off.
they’ll ground you forever.
either way you try to remember the name
of that myth where the boy flew too close to the sun.

there was a certain reverence
with the way she cleaned her tools.
he asked who wielded who
and she glanced at the metal in her hands.
when people worship,
it’s with their hands

there are plenty of places
where i can go and not see
anything that remotely reminds me of you.
i’m glad we never looked up at the sky together.
i feel like you would’ve ruined the moon for me.
when i stand in the airport and decide what next place…
i feel free.
and i’m happy.

lots of hair flew around
and teeth was gnashed
and i’m sure a knee or two was banged.
our bodies were unfeeling until the last
that final frame
of frozen time
when we saw each other for the first time.
i did not say i’m sorry.
i said i saw you

it really was amazing
the sun rose that morning
and clung to your eyelashes.
you were crowned king of the world
and enthroned in the earth.
night came and you passed beyond
in a fiery chariot.
i said goodbye and good morning.
