I guess a porter is involved in transport. Like moving things.
Not the best word today. I was expecting something better.

There isn’t much that I want. Good health, friends, food, and shelter. Not necessarily in that order. Addendum: I also want new running shoes every 3 years.

I once robbed three banks in 24 hours. Of course, I didn’t get away with this. It took another two days before the law had caught up with me. By that time, I had blown through $250,000 in cash and had had the time of my life? Was it worth a life prison sentence? You bet.

I try not to let the concept of artworks elude me. It’s the pivotal point – the reason the artist endured the pain to make it and share it. What is the writer/director/painter trying to convey? What do I see in it? How does it make me feel? Any solid work of art can stand up to these kinds of questions.

I can never read books that I’m told to read…

I don’t have manners. I chew with my mouth open. I don’t hold the door open for strangers. I leave the seat up. I spit on hot asphalt when I’m outside and my mouth tastes funny. I pick my nose. I don’t bother with saying ‘thank you’ or apologizing. And why should I? Women love me.

Who doesn’t like to abuse substances? Who doesn’t like a drink or two or seven? The human mind and body are constantly in flux and made to be altered. Even natural chemicals can be abused; I sometimes spend entire days running and spinning around my living room while listening to loud music, in search of that elusive endorphin natural high.

Crime assaults are 34% higher less than 5 miles away. I think that’s strange that high crime areas are so localized. Crime seems like it should be a rampant, random phenomenon, but instead it has a correlation to specific areas of town.

Probably one of the most annoying things to happen in the world just when you think you on a journey of discovery this happens. A puncture is a way of telling you that to work hard and get to where you want to go you may face a trial before you succeed

On a dare, I jumped off the cliff. We couldn’t see the riverbed from the edge, and I was worried it was too shallow. My fears proved to be unfounded; by the time I hit the floor, the impact of the water had slowed me so much that I merely bounced off the surface.

The key is the answer, stripped down and simplified. It’s easy to overlook in your haste to find it.

Real life is distorted by a camera lens. The world is a portrait that needs framing.

There’s no such thing as a trap I’m not prepared for. I can see the informant in the crowd; I can see the surveillance camera in the mantlepiece; violence always knows where to find me, and often does. But I’m ready for anything.

Everyone’s has slightly different methods. Nobody does the same thing the same way. Copying someone else exactly is tough work. It’s easier, more human, to add your own flourish to whatever work you do. To stamp out your own individuality you have to be a true professional.

My losses outnumber my wins. I think everybody can say the same. It might sound depressing, but I see life itself as a gradual stripping away. You lose your youth, your vigor, and your priorities change – not always for the better. Anyone who can accept this will be much better off.

All of them. They are gone. For what purpose did they hold that I remember? One of some lesson or five or ten or a thousand. Each one bearing different fruits which were plucked and eaten or fell to the ground to be found as a flower seasons later.
What was gained by them as beings or entities most think of as none being or inanimate? All things are animate. All things are observing or rather play with our observance.

The principal is the most important. Hold your principals close in your mind and never violate them; keep the principals of your schools well-paid; and be sure to read the fine print about the principal of your loans.

The props used in the play looked authentic from the audience but they were actually cheap replicas. Handling them annoyed me.

I can’t make a statement without doubting the angle I’m taking. There are so many sides to any one truth, I don’t want to feel like a misinformed liar. Sometimes, however, I realize that it’s admirable to be firm in your convictions.

Gum on my shoe. Left there by someone too lazy to find a trash can. I get mad but then consider the type of person who is slovenly enough to spit their gum on the ground: with habits like that, they must have a much worse life than I do. My anger turns to pity and I go on with my day.

The cup holder in her car is full of ash. There’s something masochistic about smoking in the car with the windows rolled up. Its like she has a death wish, and I’ll never understand it because she seems to have it all.

The fuses blew at once and every house in the neighborhood went dark. The street lights went off too, engulfing the entire area in the night as it was made to be experienced: total darkness.

I follow instructions. I don’t deviate from what I am told. My life is calm, all is orderly. I am living the dream and loving every minute.

The patrol car didn’t have its lights on. It felt invisible to the passing cars. A hunter stalking its prey, eyeing it from a distance without being detected. It waited patiently for a speeder to pounce on.

Laying in a stretcher. That’s where her parents ended up. That’s where she will end up. Sooner rather than later. The medics will roll her away into oblivion. Maybe the last thing she’ll ever see will be the florescent lights on the ceiling of the hospital uptown. Maybe she won’t even last that long when the final call is made. Maybe they’ll bypass the hospital and take her on a stretcher straight to the morgue.
These are the thoughts that occupy her as she walks across the street on a sunny, otherwise peaceful afternoon.

The decorations lined the mantle. The snow fell outside, but the hearth was warmed by the fire simmering in the fireplace. All was right. Another year down. Another year only days away.

I spent the last 8 years of my life without a doorknob on my bedroom door. My room’s in the basement so it was no huge deal, but I just recently installed a doorknob. You have no idea how awesome they are until you live without one for 8 years. Try it. You’ll have new appreciation.

I lay in the hospital bed covered in bandages. The pain had receded, in its place was an unbearable numbness of feeling. I could hear voices but didn’t recognize them and couldn’t open my eyes.

The things people use to cover up their wounds and that will prevent their wounds from becoming worse. Hopefully helping the person with the wounds to recover. They come in different colors. They should have bandages for a wider variety of skin tones.
