stitches

The stitches needed to be taken out. The wound on my shoulder blade was closing up and soon it would just be one more scar among many. That car accident left me lucky to be alive and this fading wound would never let me forget that.

There was one time in high school where I got a ton of stitches. I fell off my bike and mangled my face pretty well. I’ll never forget the feeling of flying over the handlebars through the air and then slamming to the pavement. I’ll also never forget the lady who saw my bloody face, and kept walking.

greedy

I like to think I’m not greedy but I am. Especially when nobody is looking. I can be a greedy, ravenous liar. I am also capable of selfless acts of generosity. Isn’t everyone?

amused

I was amused at first but the sensation dulled quickly. Eventually the cracks in the wall revealed to me a flawed mosaic like the paths converging rivers make.

doubt

This is what I feel most of the time. I am very skeptical about many things, given that my information pool is so limited. Like Socrates said, the only thing that I know is that I know nothing.

nonsense

Lewis Carrol´s poetry, with snicker snacks and gallomping beasts. Also, Daoism, just talking a whole lot about nothing.

trenches

Dig the trenches with a jackhammer. Quickly. This will be where the team are deployed to spend their days and nights incessantly fighting the enemy.

damage

Damage comes from storms, avalanches and mean spirited words.

disciple

He had no family. Women ignored him. He had money but wasn’t in charge of anything. All of the places that his absence of control was felt made him an apt disciple to another man’s doctrine.

toaster

The toaster sat on the counter, heating. I was so tired. I sat watching, watching, watching. Pop! The bronzed toast snapped me out of my reverie.
Hangover brunch.

knee

I was running and didn’t see the pot hole and when I stepped in it I fell to the concrete. My jeans ripped and my knee skinned. I was drunk but through the booze could feel the burning sting.

“Are you alright?”

barricade

The barricade thought it could hold us back. The strength of millions proved otherwise. First we tried to clammer over but that didn’t work. The stronger in the group pounded and thrashed against it. Slowly, the concrete began to give way.

instructor

Someone who teaches. Someone who instructs. Someone who cares about teaching others about what they know, and what they should know. This type of person builds the blocks of society, and has pupils who lay them. Who are strict or lenient, kind or mean, from all walks of life. They are educated, smart, and well-versed in their respective fields.

prisoner

Locked away on the island, as number 2 he didn’t know why he was kept. Plus that big white fucking ball would catch him if he ever tried to escape. The “village” was sparse but pleasant.

dogmatic

They always said to just believe what the master said. Naturally i took this to heart, being young and ignorant of the world save for the small snatches of knowledge handed me like scraps to a dog at the table. So you will forgive me if i followed him to the very end, to the point when people began to die and the world was made the worse for us having been there.

distress

I couldn’t account for the feeling that came over me at that moment, as the plane began to descend towards the crowd of onlookers and each child’s face seemed to go from a moment of exhilarated joy to one of panic and perhaps an adumbration that this was the last thing they would ever see.

captivate

Does anything that captivates sell itself? Does a beautiful book read itself? No. It takes more than stellar content to sell a story. You need a bent for marketing.

polite

Learning to be polite in elementary school. Being taught by grandparents and parents what manners are. Saying please and thank you. The motto, “If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.”

Pairs are necessary for bipeds such as ourselves. We require two shoes, two gloves, two handles on a bike, and even two people to reproduce. Life

delve

When you delve, you dive. Dive sounds a little bit like delve, however the two can have very different meanings. When one dives, they can dive into water, they can dive into a project, they can dive into an abyss. When one delves, I think it is more plodding, more purposeful. You dive when you want to crash into it, and you delve when you want to dig into it, more slowly, with more attention. At least that’s the way I see it. And that’s the only way I can see it.

simplify

This site is a little bit tougher than i thought.. One word, to write about? Can’t be that difficult. Think again. Simplify. If i were to simplify this website, i would remove the word “simplify” from the database.

ensue

what did ensue? Nothing you would write home to your mother about. It’s the sort of thing that embarrasses even the sternest, boldest among us. People who wear cowboy hats and slam beers would be ashamed.

eternal

The eternal spirit, the eternal flame, the eternal lord. Eternal has invaded our everyday thoughts and practices. This meaning of forever. When humans by nature die every couple of decades.

tales

stories, stuff old people tell, or maybe just tails spelled incorrectly. Don´t really know what to say. Space odysseys would be fitting for tales. Stories of star travellers would be amazing.

flames

Flames again, huh? This is a fight, then. Ok. I can dig that. But it won’t be pretty, and nobody will be happy. Especially without me thinking. You wouldn’t like me when I don’t think.

sanctity

When money is king where do you find sanctity? What is holy when everything is for sale? I find it in quiet reflection. Thinking your own thoughts is the only act that’s still sacred, post-God, post-morality.
