The loss still pained him, even after all this time.
Every so often, he would reach for the place on his belt where his sword had once hung, only to find nothing.
It hadn’t just been a weapon. It was all he had left of his father.

The man crumbled the bread in his hands and threw the pieces one by one into the duck pond.

He shook his head and moved the piece across the board. “Your move.”
A smile crossed his face as he waited for his opponent. They might be playing a game, but what he had in mind was very real.
For so long, he’d been a pawn. Now, he would be king.

Years had passed, and the opera house had fallen into disrepair. But the ghosts of dancers twirling onstage, musicians tuning up in the orchestra pit, and notes hanging in the air long after they’d been sung were still there, if you cared to look and listen for them.

I can’t figure how to beat this stupid game. I need guidance, but don’t know where to find it. I doesn’t matter, though, because in the end, it’s always a matter of crossing your fingers and hoping for the best.

He’d been well educated in the ways of the outside. No matter where he went, he always stood apart.

He drew the dagger and carefully cleaned it, polishing it until it shone. He wanted to look his best for the big occasion, right down to his weapon.
He’d been waiting so long, Now, at last, he would have his revenge.

“You’ve done so much for me. How can I ever repay you?”
I smiled at her. “Just be yourself.”
She threw her arms around me and hugged me.

It would be a long voyage, that was for sure. Weeks spent at sea, the ship being tossed and turned by waves, hours of back-breaking work, the captain barking orders, not nearly enough to eat. But it was all worth it in the end, if he finally got to see his family again.

They were both in cages. She was imprisoned by her father’s last wish, and he by a harsh and unforgiving law.

He was trapped in a cage of his own making. He longed to escape it, but couldn’t see how.

Every day, I sit at my window and look at the world outside. I long to be there, instead of in here. There’s so much out there, just waiting for me to discover it.

It was so easy to trick them. Play the part of the sweet, innocent girl, then quietly smile to yourself as soon as everyone else looked the other way.

“It’s all the fault of those damn executives. They’re the ones who cut our paychecks.”
“I know, And there’s not a damn thing we can do about it. That’s what really frustrates me.”

“You’ve been staring at her all morning.”
“You like her, don’t you?”
“Then why are you staring at her?”

The rules were simple. Get in, take what you can, get out again, and split it fairly. It wasn’t a life for everyone, of course. But who said there wasn’t honor among thieves?

He was a madman. Everyone said so.
What fools they were! How could they not see it was they who were mad?

Reducing a once intimidating villain to a shell of his former self is something I really hate.
» Posted By Brooke On 01.20.2017 @ 6:26 am
He loved to intimidate people he didn’t like. There was something about seeing the shock, confusion, or fear on someone’s face that gave him a rush of satisfaction.
It was wrong, some part of him knew. But it felt so good.

She laughed and clinked her champagne glass against his. Neither of them noticed the dark figure sitting at a table in the back of the restaurant, watching them.

From his post on top of the fortress wall, he could see the enemy approaching.

“I’m afraid I’m going to have to downgrade the software to something more manageable.”
“But that’ll ruin all our hard work!”
“I know, but it can’t be helped. I’m sorry.”

“It’s not. One way or another, we’re gonna break out of here.”
“Easy for you to say.”
“Hey, I’m the one chained to the wall, not you!”

The last of the bars fell away with a clank. I stuck my head out the prison cell window. I was almost free.

It’s all around me. It’s coming down in buckets. It’s up to my waist.
“Help!” I yell.

“Why is it so hot out?”
“Because we’re in the desert, you dumbass.”
“Don’t ask me, you’re the one who dragged me into this.”
“I’m so thirsty. I need water.”
“So do I, but you don’t hear me complaining about it!”

Stuck in the middle is a term often used to refer to being placed in a situation you would really prefer not to. Its even a phrase in a popular song. I feel like being “stuck in the middle” is an opportunity! putting yourself through weird situations is a way to learn, grow, and show people what you’re really made of.

It was a complete disaster, the whole room was turned upside down. The cupboard was broken in half with the timer shrapnel piercing left leg across my torso.

Are you on the spectrum? Everyone is on the spectrum so to speak so who really cares? I certainly don’t. Rather than seeing my weirdness as a ‘problem’ (heaven forbid!) I see them as making me an individual!

Sometime you should go to the store and just watch people. It’s the best way to learn about people. They way a mother interacts with her child. The types of food people buy and how they choose which items to purchase. Do they pick up their different food options and look at the nutrition label?
