We humans are a comfort-seeking bunch. And our sources are as individual as our fingerprints and hair styles. In our youth we may gravitate toward liquor, sex, food, wealth. The older I get the more I appreciate familiarity, sincerity and love.

We had a mutual understanding: I made the rules and he followed them. It was the perfect relationship. Why can’t all romances be so easy?

“Oh, this is warfare, people!” Do you realize how many one-sided friendships I have? It’s time to pull the plug on all of them. Slacker friends who won’t hold up their side of the friendship. And no, this isn’t just the menopause talking.

What a silly, pointless word to write about for an entire minute. Silk is of course luscious and comforting and sexy, but why write an entire minute, just aimlessly thinking about silk? I have no silk in my home, nor do I care. I DO however enjoy using the word silk to describe some of my favorite foods; silky chocolate… that’s all I can think of. Silky soy milk?

Just looking at that envelope makes me ill. I know what it ia about. What in the world will I do? I can’t tell anyone yet. Nobody would believe me anyway. I wonder how long it will take before everyone finds out. My palms are so sweaty. The butterflies in my stomach have multiplied ten thousand times.

The was a huge train standing on the fourth track. It gleamed in the morning sunlight and looked as though it had just been wheeled out of the manufacturers yard.

There is one word in the English language that I particularly love, not only because it sounds great but it also has a wonderful meaning. That word is serendiptuous.

I want to be beloved. I saw a picture this morning of my aunt with a friend she just took a trip with and it was labeled “bff’s” and my heart broke with wanting to be someone’s bff. I thought I was making progress with my husband but when he yelled at me yesterday, something broke inside me all over again.

when i went to school we had to wear plaid skirts that were pleated in the front. No one liked them. Not because they were plaid but because they had to touch your n\knee. Now that I am older i only think of my lmother;s plaid shirts. she had lots of them and wore them alltime.

Backpacks are for people who have ambition and care about our environment. They not only take things out of it but put garbage in that would naturally pile up from those who do not care.

My life in one word, montage….a hazy photo, ascent so powerful it takes me somewhere else, a touch that lingers.

Many things that are practical are now obsolete. They are replaced with overpriced, unnecessary items. Like the Kindle. GO BUY A BOOK. Our generation is forgetting the things we used to value.

I need to read all the books I have on my bookshelf- so many classics and good stories to be read and discovered. If only I could overcome my laziness and not just watch the movies on my bookshelf. A house without a bookshelf does is soul-less.

I was thirsty. it consumed me and was all I could think of. It hit my soul, my entire insides with it’s power and demand. I didn’t even really know what I was thirsty for but I still felt it’s call.

It’s something every person longs for. It’s something I believe everyone has but they forget it when they see their fears. It comes hand in hand with courage. It’s something we all need to start showing more of.

they cheer you on. they watch you and only you. they’re the support. they’re the people who chose to watch you. you can make them laugh, cry, or smile – they’re at your mercy. they may love you or hate you but either way you’ve taken the time to captivate them and make them care about you.

Cheap is as cheap does. it falls below the belt . it wastes away. it dries the heart.

I would picture us on the small table in the hotel room
he always got a nice one because
“you’re more worth the girls I brought to motels”
but he never propped me up there
and he never gave me what i was worth.

Sturdy, unlike me
So many possibilities
I wish I could be more like
my dining room table.
it may have been a product
of my grandfathers cheating
but at least adventures come forth to it
while i lay staring the ceilings.

I think of the lyrics “dark road” by annie something-or-other. We danced to in in Walla Wall at a dance intensive. The lyrics are “it’s a dark road that leads to my heart…”
then I think of fourth grade and developing pinhole camera pictures in a makeshift dark room with my class.

Ah yes, those terrifying, hairy ugly things that steal into the corners of your house and then remain as guest, no longer wanted, in the corner of your mind.
