In norht american culture insults are often based on sexual function where as in european culture they are more often aimed at religious standing. This is just hte way I see it. I try not to insult people, but sometimes you do with out even realizing you have. A person with out children may be insulted by the insinuation that comes with the question, do you have children? I am at a loss to explain intentional insults but have, in my past, taken great pleasure in insulting a buffoon who didn't know he was being insulted. That is the subtlety. of tact. Tell someone to go to hell in such a way that they anticipate the trip.
