  1. These are the evenings I look forward to on my days off from serving capitalism and proving my worth to society; long soothing showers; the smell of rain on sand while out on the porch with green or chamomile tea in hand; staring out at breathtakingly vermilion skies, dragonflies buzzing around and the early cries of humans about to start their evenings after soulful meals and long slumbers; Jazz or neo-soul in the backgrounds of all these. These quiet and peaceful evenings remind me of my humanity. They bring back to me something the world tries to snatch every day I am awake: my essence.

  2. Buzzing, not fluttering, with long alien bodies not so dissimilar to their more beautiful friends. Darting to and fro non water’s surface. I remembernthem fondly from my days of kayaking down rivers.

  3. Hovering, dropping back just to dip its feet back into the world it once knew, to a world and a childhood it can never return to again, is it worth it? Those wings? Does it ever miss the cool of pool and slithering between water weeds?

  4. In the early morning light, the dragonfly dance filled the sky. They seemed to dance randomly but if you watched long enough, there was a pattern, of courting each other and evasion from danger.
