  6. A zipper, zip, fly, or zip fastener, formerly known as a clasp locker, is a commonly used device for binding the edges of an opening of fabric or other flexible material, like on a garment or a bag.[1] It is used in clothing (e.g., jackets and jeans), luggage and other bags, sporting goods, camping gear (e.g. tents and sleeping bags), and other items. Zippers come in all different sizes, shapes, and colors.Whitcomb L. Judson was an American inventor from Chicago who invented and constructed a workable zipper.[2] The method, still in use today, is based on interlocking teeth. Initially, it was called the “hookless fastener” and was later redesigned to become more reliable.

  7. She walked out side and closed the door behind her. The snow started coming down faster than ever and the cold air was making it hard to breath. She put on her gloves, zipped up her jacket and started walking to her car. As she started walking her feet felt weird she looked down to see the side of her long boots weren’t zipped. The snow started coming in her boots. She bent down to zip her boots up. Then she checked to see what time it was to make sure she wasn’t late for work….again.

  9. “swoosh!” it was a loud noise that pulled her out of her reverie. She looked around herself and saw that she was in a room with decadence all over it. “where am I?”, she asked the man who was closing the zipper on a black bag filled with something. “Ma’am, they’re ready for you to leave the Crime scene. They need to start cleaning everything and you have an Autopsy to perform.” And then she remembered the night that the man died.

  10. my dress fits like a glove, with a broken zipper. how the years have made me into a thousand different people. The world changes, i change likle a butterfly on the inside. No one can tell the difference . But the world I see – metamorphisizes.

  11. Oh what an austierty, I haven’t much,
    not as much usual,
so what, I’d rather be awake,
    a real rake,
of what’s stake, out there, for me chew up
    digest,
    poop out,
    and make my own.
To profligate over nonsensical suppressible mistakes,
overtakes what my next move is so I create
    instead of hate.

  12. She pulled up her zipper, burrowing further into her coat as she walked. She stuffed her hands in her pockets. It had gotten cold so quickly here. It was ridiculous. She tried to bury her face in the collar of her coat, keeping her breath insulated.

  13. The zipper was stuck. The question is why and how. How does an interdimensional zipper get stuck on the fabrics of reality and time?! She panics, and the magic around her surges with spasms of uncontrolled energy.

  14. My glasses need a wipe and as I type , I think that it would be a cause just to pause in one minute and have a zipper along my gown to pull up good tidings with my morning frown.

  15. The rhythm is what keeps her going. The clicks and the locks and the right little things that just slot into place, defying entropy, defying the law that is chaos. Change is the only constant, and it’s tearing her apart.

  16. there was zipper on the pants. His pants were blue. Who even knew? why was i staring at his zipper, though? were there nefarious thoughts at hand. I was always terrible with men, yet cravd them at the same time. Sheesh. Daddy issues much? Me and everyone else though, can’t even claim to be original. Pathetic.

  17. A new jacket? With an impressive looking zipper. Looks like it will work. Try zipping it up. Oh no, you caught your finger. Now it’s eating your finger. Now your finger is all gone but the zipper swelled up and I can’t unzip it. Thank God, all this is simply a figment of my imagination.

  18. The other day, Debbie asked me what a zipper was. She didn’t say “what is a zipper?” but she opened the “Z” bin, found a zipper toy in there, and asked what it was. I told her, it is a zipper. She then asked what it is for. I told her it is for our jackets, pants, or sometimes to zip our lips when we’ve said too much.

  19. I can zip it up but that won’t keep it up
    it can always fall
I can zip it and hurt my thumb
    that’s usually what happens
    I don’t know why
    is it stiff?
    is my thumb weak?
    anyway, it doesn’t stay
    it’s either too tight
    or loose
    or was cheaply made
    maybe there are good zippers
    that don’t hurt your thumb
    that stay up
    on expensive clothes.

  20. If it were up to me I’d equate the relationship that the two of you have to a warmth of your favorite, six year old sweater. The one that got you through your first break up and was there with you on the day you graduated college. The color might be fading and the zipper is completely busted, but you refuse to buy a new one cause this one is still the most comfy article of clothing you own, and honestly, if I had a relationship like that, I sure as hell wouldn’t let it get ruined by something like a few hundred miles.

  22. I took my zipper up and down, making it go buzz buzz buzz like a robot whirring its gears. It’s something I do when I’m nervous, I grab the closest zipper to me and I just start fiddling with it. I guess that makes me some kind of freak, doesn’t it? It’s okay. I’m used to people calling me a freak.

  23. “Lucky you”: This is what I saw as I unzipped my signature Lucky jeans at the end of the day. What a surprise! I didn’t notice the phrase when I bought them originally.

These jeans for me are associated with the blessed feeling of falling in love with someone. The “lucky you” feeling I knew all too well. The funny thing about falling is that when its over, the feelings of euphoria and incredulity are replaced with the harsh reality of the crash once the ground catches up with you.

Our love wasn’t a false love. It was as real as the Lucky jeans that hugged my waist.

I just want to feel the way I did in those jeans. Their embrace is an unnatural and unwanted now. I feel estranged, as an other amongst the in crowd. I knew growing together would not last forever, especially when growing up leads people in as many places my heart is crushed into.

I would like to prefer that I grew out of them, even though the former is more likely considering I am writing about this right now. They are laughing at the goddamn popular table while I lay in my bed far into the afternoon.

She’s moved on and I’m sitting here wrapped up in a blanket with a to-do list begging me to focus on anything else. She’s not worth this, they say, but I don’t believe them. She was, and I ruined it.

Just when I thought I was closer to getting over this, the feelings bubble to the surface. I can’t wait until I am fully past this. Until the message behind the zipper of the jeans is a distant memory.

Oh silly girl, letting yourself be vulnerable enough to believe in so-called magical jeans. It’s not the sisterhood of the traveling pants, contrary to what you might like to imagine.

  25. “I’d love to go to the party now,” barked Helena from the other room, “but it’d really help if the zipper wasn’t stuck on my jacket!”

Emma laughed and sighed before entering Helena’s bedroom, where her friend was struggling to move the metal bastard up and down without success. Emma let her fingers dance across the front of Helena’s beautiful leather jacket, the blue hue matching her freshly painted fingernails.
