  1. It is strange to see my whittled spirit standing beside me, carved away from my former self. Do I discard the culled pieces of save them for scrap? How will I ever know if any of these parts will ever mean anything to anyone ever again?

  2. remember that one time when i invited you to the tree? no? oh, well i know i’m not that important to you. or memorable. or time-worthy. but when i invited you and you didn’t show, i waited. i waited until it got dark, and then i walked home. before i walked i carved our initials into the tree, though, and now i can’t rid myself of them.

  4. A statue is carved out of stone or bronze or whatever it’s made of. I think you can also carve a piece of meat, but I’m not sure.

  7. It was as if the scars had been carved lovingly into her skin. Instead of cuts and scrapes they were art, as if the painter had taken up his knife as gently as a brush and drew a picture on her cheek.

Her hand ached and her head throbbed in agony as she continues to work the knife into the ground, trying to let the scrapping sounds overwhelm the clash of broken dishes and screams that were bleeding down the walls of the house she grew up in.
    “No, Alan…no, please. I’m sorry! Please!”
    Then there was a loud thud as something heavy, heavy enough to be a person, hit the ground.
    Beth began to carve the heart, struggling to focus her vision through the tears that burned her senses.

  14. Die Raben saßen aufgereiht auf dem Waschzuber und schauten konzentriert auf das blubberne Seifenwasser. Weißer Schaum, in dem sie sich lila, gelb, grün und rosa schillernd spiegelten. Der letzte Atem von Corvin ließ immer mehr Blasen entstehen, die immer kleiner wurden.
